North Fork Radiology PACS

Simple “How To” Instructions For Referring Physicians

  1. In order to gain access to our PACS system you must be set up with a user ID and password.  If you have not been established as a user please call 631-727-2755.  Ask to speak with: Tracey Scioscia.
  1. Once you have been established as a user by one of North Fork Radiology’s system administrators you will be able to login anytime from anywhere provided you have internet access and your PC meets the following requirements to view images: 1.98GHz CPU, minimum of 2 GB RAM, windows 2000 or XP and Internet Explorer 6 or better.  DO NOT USE DIAL UP INTERNET ACCESS.  MUST USE cable modem, DSL or T-1 access.
  1. Go to the following website: www.northforkrad.com.  On the home page click on “physician’s private viewing” Follow the instructions below.

  2. Click on WX CLIENT (Do not click on Carestream Client or Administration—Your PC Will Lock Up.) To login simply enter the first initial of your first name followed by your last name (all in small case) In example: Thomas Smith would login as follows: tsmith.  Or enter any other special login that was assigned to you
  1. Your temporary password is 12345678. Upon initial (first time) login you will be asked to change your password. You will need to remember the password that you select.  North Fork Radiology will have no access to your login.  Please don’t share your login or password with anyone.

  2. Please be advised that if it is your first time logging in—it will take a considerable amount of time to load the proper software for viewing images.  This will only occur upon the first use.  Upon initial installation you may need assistance from your IT staff as firewalls, cookies and pop-up blockers on YOUR system may not permit access to our system.  This is generally very easily fixed.  To gain access to our PACS system you need Java software and/or Active X.  If you don’t have this on your system it can be downloaded from the internet. Furthermore if you utilize cookie blocking software or programs such as Norton security you will have to work with your IT staff to access our website.
  1. After you have successfully logged on you may access images and reports relative to the care of your patients as follows:
    • On the left side under “ARCHIVE” there is a list of various choices.  Select and click on nfrweb1.  Then under the same list select and click “SEARCH”.  To the right of the ARCHIVE LIST appears a menu bar (it resembles the example below)

Patient Name

Date

Patient ID

Accession #

MOD

Body Part

Enter the patient’s last name, followed by a comma and their first name (smith,sam) and press enter.  Select the correct patient/study.   If you want to view the actual images, double click the selected case and it will load.  If you only want to see the report without the images select the study (DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK).  In the top right select the icon that has a sheet of paper and eye glasses. Click on this to display the related report.  If you wish to see both the images and the report load the study and you will be able to view both.

If you need to begin a new search on the left side under the ARCHIVE LIST select SEARCH and enter.  Repeat the above steps.  If you can’t access a patient modify your search by utilizing last name only or entering the date of study and modality.

Please refer to the MOD codes:
Cat Scan=CT

MRI=MR

  Ultrasound=US

  Nuclear Medicine=NM

  X-ray=CR  or  X-ray=DX
(If the study doesn’t appear with CR use DX or vice versa)
