Varian 2100C Linear Accelerator with Multileaf Collimator

Totally computerized radiology technology, safe, efficient and quick the Varian 2100C has two photon energies of 15 million volts and 6 million volts that treat tumors deep within the body. Its five-electron beam energies can emit up to 20 million volts, enabling treatment of superficially located tumors while avoiding risks to deeper structures as the multileaf collimator conforms to the shape and size of the tumor, allowing precise targeting of radiation beams.

ADAC 3-Dimensional Treatment Planning System

The ADAC treatment planning system in combination with the Siemens Sensation 4 spiral CT Scanner provides the most precise tumor localization available in radiation therapy today. The system provides a graphic display of the 3D anatomy of both normal tissue and the tumor, facilitating the design of an optimal treatment plan. Such a system is essential for 3-dimensional conformal therapy for prostate cancer, brain tumors, lung cancer and other malignancies.

Varis System

Varis is our comprehensive computerized information management system. The Varis system integrates patient data including treatment planning and simulation records from the ADAC and radiation treatment delivery on the Varian linear accelerator into an electronic chart. This system enables East End Radiation Oncology to deliver and monitor the prescribed radiation treatment with the utmost accuracy.

Varian IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy)

The Varian IMRT system uses computer-generated images to plan and then deliver even more tightly focused radiation beams to cancerous tumors than is possible with conventional radiotherapy. With this capability a precise radiation dose is delivered to the depth and shape of the tumor, while significantly reducing the adverse effects of doses on healthy tissue. IMRT can be used to treat tumors that might have been considered untreatable in the past due to close proximity of vital organs and structures. A computer program optimizes a treatment plan based on a physician’s dose instructions, and information about tumor size, shape and location in the body. A linear accelerator equipped with a special device called a multileaf collimator that shapes the radiation beam, delivers the radiation in accordance with the treatment plan.

IMRT is being used to treat tumors in the brain, breast, head and neck, liver, lung, nasopharynx, pancreas, prostate and uterus.

BAT SXI B Mode Acquisition and Targeting System

The investment in quality patient care does not stop at our machinery. Dr. Aggarwal is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology and our staff includes board-certified radiation physics personnel, three full-time certified radiation therapy technologists, a full-time registered nurse and helpful, efficient, and attentive office staff.

The facility is fully accessible to those with disabilities and includes a separate entrance directly into the office suite for ambulance and ambulette patients.

Patients receiving Radiation Therapy treatment at East End Radiation Oncology are treated with the utmost respect, we maintain patient privacy and deliver exceptional treatment in the comfort of a private office setting as opposed to the institutional setting of a hospital.
